In 2002, ETSU created a Research Foundation- the first for any state school in Tennessee.The ETSU College of Nursing will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2014.In 2010-2011, the ETSU College of Nursing reported more than 30,000 client encounters through its nine nurse-managed health centers serving various under served populations in the region.In August 2007, the ETSu and General Shale Brick Natural History Museum and Visitor Center opened at the Gray Fossil Site. ETSU's prolific Miocene epoch fossil site at neighboring Gray, Tennessee, is attracting scholars, volunteers, and visitors from across the country seeking to learn about the rich paleontology of Southern Appalachia.ETSU is proud to be a partner in the Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia -the nation's first "All-America City" region, since 1999.ETSU is the only university in America offering a comprehensive selection of courses relating to bluegrass and country music.The former congressman passed away in 2003. Quillen is the largest single gift from an individual to ETSU. Over 1,500 doctors have graduated from ETSU's James H.ETSU's "Reaching Higher Needs Based Capital Campaign" - focused on over $224 million in academic and athletic needs- was launched in 2005.ETSU is a leader among the six Tennessee Board of Regents four-year universities in private giving.Over 462 endowments have been established by alumni and friends of the university.
